What is the Night of a 1000 Drawings?
Night of a 1000 Drawings emerged in 2006 when the Paballo Ya Batho delivery van was stolen. Felix Frankenberger and David Quan Chong came up with the idea of hosting a fundraising event to replace the stolen vehicle.
Kelly McGillivray was called in to help organise this unique inner-city art exhibition. Interestingly, during planning, a new vehicle was donated which prompted us to reconsider the need for the event. However, unanimously it was decided—“Of course! Let’s keep going.” This led to continued support for Paballo Ya Batho, with successful events in 2006, 2016, 2019, and beyond, each helping various Johannesburg charities.”
